Peyton Mueller has been a Guest at TerraLuna since April, 2025 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.
What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?
I had heard some of my friends talking about their Pilates classes and how much they enjoyed them, so I looked into studios near my office. Turns out I was very lucky to have TerraLuna only a block away! I had also tried some mat Pilates videos I found on YouTube, which were fine! But I just really appreciated the personalized feedback and community you get from attending classes in-person at a Studio. I believe I started back in April and have been coming back each week ever since.
Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?
I have been on a big fitness journey this past year - trying to focus on taking care of my body and moving it in ways that feel good (or, at least, don't feel like active torture haha). I can accomplish some of that by lifting weights at the gym or running in my neighborhood, but I love taking classes at TerraLuna because of the emphasis on the mind-body connection - the Instructors' cues on where you should be feeling the effort, which muscles to tense or relax, and overall connecting movement to breath... it's been game-changing for my physical and mental fitness outside the Studio, as well.
What class(es) have you/do you take? Do you have a favorite class?
I normally take Reformer Pilates, but I've also tried Cycle/Pilates, Jump Lite, and Barre! My favorite is definitely Reformer Pilates, but Jumpboard is a close second!
What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?
The ones coming to mind are the hip abductor series we do in the footstraps on the long box. That was a very difficult muscle group for me to isolate and focus on, but the more we've done it, the stronger I feel attempting it!
Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.
This is a tough one!! I do like using the dumbbells - it feels like an extra challenge. Least favorite is probably the magic ring. Even though it's so versatile, I just find it kind of awkward to hold for some of the activities we do.
If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?
I'm not sure I have one... Though my favorite activities involve dipping into the well - it's always so fun to think of all the creative ways you can use the Reformer!
How do you define "wellness"?
To me, wellness is a journey in learning about how to best care for and nurture all the different ways that you exist as a human. That takes many different forms - mental fortitude, physical health, emotional regulation, appropriate social support, and a safe environment in which to exist, to name a few. Each one impacts the other and finding ways to approach each aspect in a healthy, loving manner is how you improve your wellness.
Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?
I entered an email newsletter contest back in 2022 and won two free roundtrip tickets to Dubai! My best friend and I visited for about 10 days and had a lovely time.
Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?
Definitely a lavender oatmilk latte and a cheddar scone.
Thank you Peyton, for sharing a bit about yourself and your Pilates journey!
