Guest Spotlight: Meet Mari

Mari Lopez has been a Guest at TerraLuna since September, 2022 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.
What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?
After initially trying the intro class, I really liked how Pilates was similar to yoga and barre, classes I had taken before, but had the advantage of being able to intensify a workout with numerous modifications and increasing resistance.
Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?
After a few months, I noticed how much stronger my core was and how Pilates had really strengthened every part of my body. So, needless to say, I am hooked.
Talk to us about props. Least favorite and most favorite?
I like the creative spin that the dowel rod offers to Pilates. It's super fun using it for single leg work!
How do you define "wellness"?
I believe wellness is a balance of many different aspects of life: physical health, mental health, work life balance, diet, family time, etc, and I believe Pilates and the community at TerraLuna have become integral in my wellness balance.
Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?
I'm originally from San Antonio, Texas but I moved to Fairfield in Oct 2012, after I got out of the army. I've been playing sports since I was 5 and played college soccer back in Texas so being active is a big part of my life.
Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?
The one food that I can't live without is the taco...any kind of taco...breakfast taco, walking taco, choco taco, you name it. Life is better with tacos...and margs
