Connie Spurlock has been a Guest at TerraLuna since August, 2023 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.
What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?
As one matures, our bodies become a little less limber and a tad more achy. I knew I needed to do something to improve the situation and exercise classes at the gym are just not for me. A few friends recommended Pilates to me and I thought I would give it a try. I am now hooked.
Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?
I am excited to say that my core muscles have improved and it has helped me with my balance as well as overall strength. I still need more improvement in this area but I can see a real difference.
What class(es) have you/do you take? Do you have a favorite class?
I have taken several of the Pilates classes and enjoyed them all, so no real favorite. I tried the Tai Chi and liked it as it would be great for my memory but I only seem to have time for the Pilates so far.
What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?
I have issues with upper body strength and I was unable to easily do some skills that required that, but I am improving in that area.
Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.
I actually like the squishy ball but I am not a huge fan of the hoop.
If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?
I do not really have a signature activity but I feel proud of myself when I complete all the C curve stretches with legs.
How do you define "wellness"?
Wellness is, for me, both physical and mental. One needs to enjoy life and it is necessary to be physically well to enjoy it to the fullest.
Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?
A few of my friends know that one summer I was a security guard and they think that is rather funny.
Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?
Margaritas are my favorite drink in all the world. :-)
Thank you Connie, for sharing a bit about yourself and your Pilates journey!
