If you've read about our StretchLates, a Special Self-Care event you may be interested in learning a bit more about The Secret Conjure Saints, the charity we are supporting with our donation drive and financial contribution.
Formally announced on January 2, 2022, the Secret Conjure Saints is a philanthropy born out of the charitable efforts of The Alternative Path Coexist, a retail shop on the west side of Hamilton.
Store owners and Secret Conjure Saints founders Gregory Hancock and Marty Snyder describe the organization as "pagan, LGBTQ, senior, veteran, disabled, teen and homeless friendly... We come together to practice "The Mercies" - a tradition of giving to those that shall never know our names, see our faces or thank us. This is so many can participate in giving back and receive those blessings and so those we bless know that they are loved unconditionally."
The Secret Conjure Saints attempts to put together at least 48 Comfort and Support Bags every two weeks to distribute to local community members experiencing homelessness. As of July, 2022 the cost of each round of bags was approximately $495.00. The goal is to distribute bags twice per month regardless of season, global pandemics, the state of the economy, or other factors such as supply chain shortages.
The Secret Conjure Saints replies upon individual donations as well as in-store customers who round up their purchases. They have undertaken efforts to provide baby formula during supply chain shortages, clothing drives, specific calls for assistance to support a family devastated by a house fire, and an on-going food drive enabling the feeding of 150-200 homeless friends per week at Sojourner Recovery Services in addition to the bi-monthly Comfort and Support Bags pictured here:
TerraLuna's Socktober Sock Drive was held in support of the Secret Conjure Saints as is our April charity drive for personal care items such as travel-sized soaps, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste/toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, razors, shaving gel/cream, and antibiotic ointment. From every $55.00 ticket sold for StretchLates, a Special Self-Care Event, TerraLuna will be donating $25.00 to the Secret Conjure Saints to assist with the Comfort and Support Bags effort.
