Notes From Norman - Modifying, an Invitation to a Different Class

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

Hi Everyone and welcome to this installment of Notes From Norman. This is where I will address some issues that I see multiple people dealing with.

In every class, you are free to modify the techniques used to better suit your needs. You should try to stay in the same general formation as everyone else – if the class is on the box doing Offer Up, you should also be on the box, but maybe you are using weights, or a much harder spring setting. If the class is doing Peter Pan and you’re just not feeling it that day, maybe just work on leg circles. It is all completely up to you, so long as you are not doing something that is distracting or disruptive.

So for you advanced folks out there, if there’s an open spot in a Beginner’s class, come on in! It might be more difficult for a beginner to come to a Reformer class, based on their knowledge of the techniques but in every class, everyone is always free to modify what you are doing to meet your needs on any given day. You don’t need to ask first – just come on in.

As always, if you have questions about this or any other topic, or if there is something you would like me to cover in another Notes From Norman, send me a message and we’ll make it happen.

See you in class! NW
